Situated in a wildlife and birding paradise, you will be truly immersed in nature, with daily visits from scarlet macaws, toucans, blue morpho butterflies, sloths, and three distinct types of monkeys.

The Property & Layout

This beautiful home is thoughtfully designed across multiple levels to maximize comfort, airflow, and incredible jungle views:

• Upper Level: Features two bedrooms equipped with queen beds, A/C, ceiling fans, and jungle canopy views with distant glimpses of the Golfo Dulce—one of only four tropical fjords in the world. This level also includes a full bathroom, a large closet, and a dedicated double desk that is ideal for remote work.

• Main Level: Offers an open-concept, high-airflow living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a second full bathroom. The main floor sofa can also convert into a comfortable 57″ x 70″ queen-size bed situated in a semi-private, three-walled space to accommodate up to 2 additional guests (allowing a total maximum capacity of 6 guests).

• The Screened Deck: The absolute highlight of the home! This massive, outdoor living area is designed to be as bug-free as possible. It comes complete with a hammock, ample seating, and a dining table for six—perfect for lounging while listening to the river below.

Location, Terrain & Access Notes

To preserve the pristine, wild setting, reaching the house requires navigating authentic jungle terrain. Please keep the following property guidelines in mind:

• 4×4 Vehicle Required: A 4×4 vehicle is strictly required to safely access the property. (Rental assistance and local contacts can be provided to help you secure the best deal).

• Proximity to Town & Surf: Town, the beach, restaurants, groceries, and the world-class surf are all under a 5-minute drive away. Please note that if you choose to walk, the path follows the same steep, hilly jungle road used to access the house. It provides a great daily workout and is highly rewarding for guests who enjoy a physical rhythm.

• Mobility Note: Due to the steep terrain, stairs, and natural surroundings, this property is not recommended for individuals with mobility limitations.

• Private Waterfall Trails: Adventurous guests can explore a private, unmanicured jungle trail leading down to the Rio Claro and a seasonal waterfall. This rugged path becomes progressively steeper and requires confident footing, offering a true hike that leads to beautiful river pools you can enjoy year-round (note that the waterfall will not be full during the dry season)

   

  Rental Price Breakdown of the Pavones Surf Eco Retreat (Colones amount can change slightly based on the daily exchange rates)

  Nightly: $80 USD / 35,000 colones

  Weekly: $540 USD / 240,000 colones

  Monthly: $1,400 USD / 625,000 colones

  Rental Policy: Full Rent amount or Deposit must be received before confirmation can be given and the calendar can be “closed”. 

  Refund Policy: Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to check-in date allows for a full refund of money received. Cancellations made 15 days prior to check-in date allows a 50% refund of money received. A cancellation made less than 15 days prior to check-in date does not allow for any refund of money received.
