Welcome to Casa Dos Caneguas – Alta Mira de Pavones

Located 1.3 miles (2.2km), just a 5 minute drive from Pavones – home to the second longest left wave in the world – Casa Dos Caneguas sits on the road to the indigenous village of Alta Mira, at the point where beach life quietly gives way to jungle.

The property covers a full hectare (2,5 acres) with the house sitting right in the middle, easily accessible from the road. Below the house, a garden with lemon and cacao trees give the place a grounded feel. Above the house, an open plateau looks out over the valley and down to the Pacific coast, where the waves of Pilón break along the shoreline. Enjoy the view in hammocks up here, or on the house‘s terrace.

From the bedroom and the terrace, the valley opens up all the way to the coast and the waves of Pilón – a view that changes with the light and never gets old.

There is a small jungle walk on the property- a loop leads you through the trees, down to the river at the edge of the property, and back up again. Slow down and look up: this is where you’ll find the birds, and occasionally a sloth that has no interest in your schedule.

The over 50 fruit trees on the property are still young, but some are already producing. Depending on the season: bananas, acerola, star fruit, avocado, lemons, yucca and curcuma. Drinking lemonade made from the lemons you yourself picked in the garden – a feeling that you will never forget.

Casa Dos Caneguas is an unfussy, well-equipped home in one of the quieter corners of Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast. Good for anyone who needs a proper (surf) break. Made for surfers and nature lovers alike.

THINGS TO NOTE:

– A 4×4 vehicle is required to access Casa Dos Caneguas. The road is mostly dirt and steep in some sections; especially in the wetter months, a 4×4 vehicle is necessary for traction.
– This house has steep stairs inside to reach the bedroom and balcony. Because of this, the house is not suitable for children or animals, we kindly ask that you don’t bring either for safety reasons.

-There is no AC or dryer. There are lines outside to hang clothes on, or a folding rack that can be put on the balcony for rainy days.

Rental Price Breakdown of Casa Dos Caneguas: (Dollars amount can change slightly due to daily exchange rates)

Nightly = $80 USD / 35,000 colones

Weekly = $450 USD / 200,000 colones

Monthly = $1,250 USD / 555,000 colones

Rental Policy: Full Rent amount or Deposit must be received before confirmation can be given and the calendar can be “closed”. 

Refund Policy: Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to check-in date allows for a full refund of money received. Cancellations made 15 days prior to check-in date allows a 50% refund of money received. A cancellation made less than 15 days prior to check-in date does not allow for any refund of money received.
